Join Off Square Theatre’s theatrical discussion group on Saturday, April 12 for a rousing discussion of Sing Sing, a 2023 American Prison Drama film directed by Greg Kwedar and written by Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar.
Based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility, the film follows a group of incarcerated men who come together to produce an original theatrical production, “Breakin’ The Mummy’s Code.” The cast includes professional actors like Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, alongside real-life former inmates such as Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin and Jon-Adrian “JJ” Velazquez, who portray themselves. The movie shares the journey of these men as they find purpose and joy through the performing arts.
Off Script will be joined by KHOL film critic Jeff Counts, who will lead us in discussion of the movie.
