Off Square Theatre Company is pleased to announce auditions for Thin Air Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, directed by Edgar Landa.
SYNOPSIS:
An age-old vendetta between two powerful families (Montagues and Capulets) erupts into bloodshed. A group of masked Montagues risk further conflict by gatecrashing a Capulet party. A young lovesick Romeo Montague falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, who is due to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris. With the help of Juliet’s nurse, the women arrange for the couple to marry the next day, but Romeo’s attempt to halt a street fight leads to the death of Juliet’s own cousin, Tybalt, for which Romeo is banished. In a desperate attempt to be reunited with Romeo, Juliet follows the Friar’s plot and fakes her own death. The message fails to reach Romeo, and believing Juliet dead, he takes his life in her tomb. Juliet wakes to find Romeo’s corpse beside her and kills herself. The grieving family agree to end their feud.
ROLES:
- Casting 12-14 actors ages 15+ to play multiple roles.
- Nurse has been precast. All other roles are available.

- WHERE: Black Box Theater at the Center for the Arts (265 S Glenwood St, Jackson WY 83001).
- WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue from Shakespeare’s work. It does not have to be age or gender specific – choose something you feel connected to. If you need support in finding a monologue, please note that in your audition request email.
KEY INFORMATION:
- First rehearsal – June 10 (non-Equity) / June 17 (Equity)
- Performances – June 29 (Pinedale), July 12-13 & 18-21.
- All rehearsals and performances will take place at the Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY (265 S Glenwood St, Jackson WY 83001). There will be one performance of excerpts in Pinedale on June 29. Transportation will be provided.
