Students in grades 8-12 are invited to audition for this winter’s Off Square Players production. (Read all about the Off Square Players, a student-run, professionally-managed production arm of Off Square Theatre, at this link!)
The Off Square Players team is excited to announce that they will be producing BLITHE SPIRIT, a play by Noël Coward and directed by senior Xander Vanier.
BLITHE SPIRIT concerns fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine, who has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira. Clever, insistent and well aware of Charles’ shortcomings, Elvira is called up by a visiting “happy medium,” the eccentric and flighty Madame Arcati. As everyone’s personalities clash, Charles’ current wife, Ruth, is accidentally killed. She “passes over” and joins Elvira, allowing the two “blithe spirits” to haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.
Students are required to pre-register for auditions.
AUDITION DETAILS:
- WHEN: Monday, September 22, 2025; 4:30-7:30pm (you may be released early)
- WHERE: The Black Box Theater at the Center for the Arts
WHAT TO PREPARE:
Actors are encouraged to read Blithe Spirit (LINKED HERE) before auditions take place. Please note that all characters are English (Edith is Cockney), so actors should expect to use English accents during auditions (accents do not need to be perfect).
Auditioners will perform the following sides (LINKED HERE) during auditions and should feel free to familiarize themselves with the sides prior to auditions. Memorization is not at all necessary.
